Takedown and Update Policy
We do not takedown articles:
-
Corrections to articles may be released by police services and these will be published in a subsequent article leaving the original article un-changed
-
Corrections to errors we have made in the processing and publishing of articles will be corrected in the original article
-
For common occurences we will eventually (time period to be determined) archive posts to a subdomain that does not have analytics or tracking and with indications for search engines not to index
-
Subdomains are also ranked low by search engines and will generally not be shown in search results
-
Pages will be redirected to the archive using HTTP status 302 which will reduce search engine ranking
We do not accept third party submissions for updates:
-
You must submit documentation yourself
-
You must respond to any inquiry or followup question we may have
-
This may result in an update being inserted above the original post, which will remain intact
All submissions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and there is no guarantee a submission will result in an update.
Unlike some sites, which we call extortion sites:
-
We never alter the subject or the url to include your name if it was not already included in the original police press release
-
We never charge money for submissions
-
By not taking down information we are making cash for takedown demands less valuable
-
We feel should never pay these sites or related services any money
