One Person Charged
(KEARNEY, ON) - One person has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident that resulted in injuries in Kearney.
On Friday February 27, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Parry Sound District Paramedic Services responded to a report of an individual in medical distress at a residence on Park Road in Kearney. Upon arrival, officers located one person with injuries consistent with a stabbing. The individual was transported by paramedics to hospital for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, Malcom BARLOW, 22 years old, of Kearney, has been charged with the following offences, contrary to the Criminal Code:
- Attempt to Commit Murder, section 239(1)(b)
- Aggravated Assault, section 268
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Monday, March 2, 2026.
