CALEDON OPP MAJOR CRIME UNIT LAY NUMEROUS CHARGES IN CONNECTION TO ARSON INVESTIGATION

(CALEDON, ON) - Members of the Major Crime Unit (MCU) from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid numerous charges against two individuals following a recent warrant execution.
On February 6, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm, Caledon OPP officers responded to a report of a residential house fire in the area of Mount Wolfe Road and Old Church Road, in the Town of Caledon. Members of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.
The fire was deemed suspicious and members of the Caledon MCU entered into an investigation.
On February 13, 2026, a search warrant was executed upon a dwelling in the Town of Caledon and evidence supporting the investigation was seized.
As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged.
Mandeep SUTHARSON, 42, of Caledon, was charged with:
- Arson
- Public mischief
- Fraud over $5000
- Obstruct peace officer
Sutharson KRISHNAMOORTHY, 47, of Caledon, was charged with:
- Arson
- Public mischief
- Fraud over $5000
- Obstruct peace officer
The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 7, 2026, to answer to their charges.
