OPP CHARGE DURHAM REGION RESIDENT IN CHILD EXPLOITATION INVESTIGATION

(DURHAM REGION, ON) - Police have arrested and charged a Whitby resident following a child sexual exploitation investigation.
On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Whitby. Assistance was provided by members of the Whitby OPP, Durham Regional Police Service and the OPP Digital Forensics Unit. Several electronic devices were seized.
As a result of the investigation, Mario SULTANA, 67 years old of Whitby, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Agreement to commit a sexual offence against a person under 16 years of age, section 172.2 (1)(b)
- Making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, section 163.1(2)
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa on Friday, June 12, 2026.
