COLLISIONS LEAD TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(RUSSELL TWP & THE NATION, ON) - Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two people for impaired driving.

On Thursday, April 9, at approximately 4:50 pm, officers received a call for a two vehicle collision on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used. The driver failed the test and was brought back to detachment for further testing

As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old, Dawn Summers, of Casselman, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol CC
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, their vehicle was impounded for seven days and they are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

On Sunday, April 12, at 02:45 am, officers were dispatched to an automatic crash notification in The Nation Twp. During the investigation, officers arrested the driver for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and the driver was brought back to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old, Dominic Amodeo, of Ottawa, Ontario was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol CC
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, their vehicle was impounded for seven days and they are also scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
