SIU INVOKES MANDATE IN ROCKLAND
Charges Laid
(ROCKLAND, ON) - One person has been charged in connection with an impaired driving investigation in Rockland, in which the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate.
On Friday, March 20, 2026, shortly before 9:45 am, officers from the Russell County OPP responded to reports of a vehicle travelling at high speeds in an unsafe manner. The vehicle was believed to have been involved in multiple single‑vehicle collisions prior to police arrival. Officers located the vehicle and safely brought it to a stop. During the arrest, the driver sustained an injury.
As a result of the investigation, Jerome MORGAN, a 27-year-old of Rockland, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Assault peace officer
- Resist peace officer
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to remain
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
