DRIVER CHARGED AFTER BEING FOUND ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL ON HWY 7

(MARMORA, ON) - Officers from the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Monday May 18, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, police on general patrol located a pickup truck stopped in a right- hand turn lane on Highway 7 in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake. The driver was found asleep behind the wheel, with the vehicle door open.
The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Central Hastings Detachment for further testing.
Angelo BOVE, age 41, of Toronto, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 29, 2026.
Additionally, their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for 7 days.
