DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

(DRYDEN, ON) - An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from members from the Dryden OPP detachment, has led to charges against two individuals.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, just after 12:00 pm CST, members of the Dryden OPP conducted a traffic stop as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. Two individuals were arrested and charged with drug related offences. The investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, as well as a quantity of Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn GARTNER, 50-years-old of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code with the following offences:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Jayden VEITCH, 26-years-old of Ignace, has also been charged under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act with the following offence:
- Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on Monday, June 8, 2026.
