Police Involved Shooting in Burlington (Update)

As a result of their investigation the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has charged the 23 year old male (no fixed address) driver of the involved vehicle with the following:
- Attempt Murder
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Controlled Substance - Fentanyl
The accused has been released from hospital and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The SIU has invoked their mandate following a police involved shooting in Burlington.
On March 8, 2026, at approximately 12:29 am Halton officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel in Burlington. As officers approached the vehicle there was an interaction between the driver and an officer which resulted in the SIU invoking it’s mandate. The driver was transported to an out of region hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.
