The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has charged a father and son and seized two re-VINed vehicles following a lengthy investigation in Milton.
In November 2025, HRPS initiated an investigation into two vehicles believed to be re-VINed after identifying inconsistencies with their Ministry of Transportation (MTO) registrations and documentation.
Police determined that fraudulent bills of sale and letters of employment were used to register the vehicles to an unsuspecting local company. Investigators also seized a 2023 Ford F-150 stolen out of Mississauga and a 2021 Dodge Charger stolen out of Windsor, both of which had altered Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) (see attached photos).
On February 4, 2026, Amer Kunda (55) of Orangeville was charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Obliterated VIN (2 counts)
- Uttering Forged Documents (5 counts)
- Disobey Court Order (3 counts)
- Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
Police continued the investigation and, in March 2026, Sameil Kunda (28) of Milton was also charged with the following:
- Uttering Forged Documents (2 counts)
- Driving While Under Suspension (2 counts, Highway Traffic Act)
Both accused have since been released from custody pending a future court date.
