(KITCHENUHMAYKOOSIB INNINUWUG FIRST NATION) - At approximately 3:30 am on March 23, 2026, members of the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with responders from the Independent First Nations Alliance (IFNA) Regional Fire Rescue, and the KI Fire Department, responded to a residential fire on Crossroads Street that has left one individual deceased.
Emergency personnel arrived to find a fully engulfed house fire and worked to ensure public safety and prevent the spread of the fire. Following initial response efforts, one individual was located deceased.
