LEEDS OPP INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN ATTEMPT MURDER CHARGE

(RIDEAU LAKES, ON) - Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with serious offences, including attempt to commit murder on a child.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, shortly before 9:00 am, members of the Leeds County OPP, assisted by the Leeds County OPP Crime Unit, began an intimate partner violence and child abuse investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Attempt to commit murder
- Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age cause bodily harm
- Sexual interference
- Forcible confinement - two counts
- Assault with a weapon - two counts
- Assault cause bodily harm - choke, suffocate or strangle - two counts
- Assault - two counts
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - two counts
- Intimidation - use or threatens use of violence
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
