(ELGIN, ON) - A collision in Elgin, involving a pedestrian, has resulted in a charge being laid.

On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, shortly after 11:00 am, members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports that a vehicle was travelling on Main Street in Elgin when it struck a 17-year-old who was a student at a nearby school. The vehicle then left the scene. The student sustained minor injuries.

Leeds OPP officers located the suspect vehicle in the area.

As a result of the investigation, a 76-year-old from Elgin has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Brockville at a later date.
