1 Male Arrested in Attempted Robbery – St Catharines

On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at approximately 9:50 pm, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were dispatched to the area of Church Street and Market Street in the City of St Catharines for an attempted robbery.
Officers spoke with the victims who reported that they had attempted to purchase an IPhone from a Facebook marketplace seller. Upon meeting with the seller, the victims became weary and did not exit their vehicle, at which point the seller stated his intention to rob the victims. The victims called 911 and left the area in their vehicle.
1 District Officers located the suspect a short distance away, and he was subsequently arrested. 19-year-old Andrei ABORDO of St Catharines is charged with the following criminal code offences:
· Robbery (2 Counts)
· Carrying a Concealed Weapon
· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
ABORDO was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date. Officers are looking to obtain video surveillance footage of the incident. Residences and businesses in the area of Church Street and Market Street are asked review video surveillance footage and contact police if the incident is captured.
