Homicide Unit Investigating a Welland Homicide

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at approximately 1:55pm, uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) were called to an Assist Ambulance call in a neighbourhood near the Prince Charles Drive and Thorold Road area of Welland.

Officers on scene discovered an adult woman deceased within a residence. An adult male was also located in that residence and was taken into custody. The investigation has been taken over by the Homicide Unit. Homicide detectives continue to investigate the matter with the assistance of the 3 District (Welland/Pelham) Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) and the Forensic Services Unit (FSU).

36-year-old Christopher BOBKO of Welland was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.

BOBKO remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing Friday, May 8, 2026.

Detectives believe that this was an isolated incident and there is no evidence of any ongoing risk to public safety.
