3 Arrested in Box Trailer Theft - Grimsby

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) uniform officers responded to a residence on South Grimsby Road in the Town of Grimsby for a stolen box trailer.
Officers discovered that on Wednesday March 18, a lone male had attended the property and removed a security lock placed on the trailer. On Thursday March 19, at approximately 4:50 AM, three suspects attended the property and subsequently stole the trailer. Officers learned that a GPS location device was located within the trailer at the time it was stolen, which revealed a location on Brand Road in Grimsby.
8 District Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) took carriage of the investigation and applied for a judicial search warrant for the property. The warrant was executed, which resulted in the recovery of the stolen trailer.
As a result of the investigation, three suspects were identified and arrested.
46-year-old Christopher MCLAUGHLIN of West Lincoln is charged with the following criminal offences
- Theft over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
34-year-old Samantha DOUGLAS of Grimsby is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Theft over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
31-year-old Frank SHADBOLT of Grimsby is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Theft over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
DOUGLAS and MCLAUGHLIN were released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date of Friday, May 1, 2026.
SHADBOLT remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St Catharines.
