One Male Arrested in Assault Investigation – St Catharines

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to the area of Court Street near St Paul Street to reports of an assault with a weapon.
A single victim was transported to an out-of-regional hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS), where he was later determined to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigating officers determined that a male approached the victim and began an unprovoked attack, resulting in an injury to the victim’s head. 1 District officers subsequently identified and arrested a male suspect at an address on St Paul Street.
37-year-old Troy WILSON of no fixed abode is charged with the following criminal offences:
• Aggravated Assault
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
• Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
• Disguised with Intent
WILSON remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
