Proactive Patrol Results in Drug Trafficking Arrest in Welland

In the afternoon of Saturday, February 28th, 2026, uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) were on proactive patrol in the area of East Main Street and Division Street in Welland.
A traffic stop of a motor vehicle was conducted and officers observed what appeared to be items used for drug trafficking. The female driver of that motor vehicle had been driving while her driver’s licence was suspended.
The female was arrested and found to be in possession of 14.7g of suspected yellow fentanyl with an estimated street value of over $1400.
38-year-old Heather CALDWELL of Welland was arrested and charged with the following offences.
- Possession For the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
The suspected drugs, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized as evidence.
CALDWELL was released with a future court date.
