Based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, this incident has been determined to be a homicide. As a result, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation with the assistance of the 1 District Detective office and Forensic Services Unit.

The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Kenneth Dombroskie, who had no fixed address.

ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 3:15 am, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Glendale Avenue in St Catharines, when they observed a fire within a forested area of Mountain Locks Park.

Officers attended the area and located a large active fire involving a tent in a wooded area. St Catharines Fire Services attended the location and extinguished the fire, which resulted in locating one deceased male.
