Vehicle Crashed into House in Welland – Driver Charged with Impaired Operation

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at approximately 9:15 pm, uniformed officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) responded to repots of a vehicle that had crashed into a home in the area of East Main Street and Golden Boulevard West in Welland.
Responding officers found a black 2015 Jeep Compass fully into a single storey home. The driver of the vehicle had fled on foot but was caught a short distance away.
27-year-old Ashdon WOOLDRIDGE of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences.
- Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
- Dangerous Operation
- Operation While Prohibited
- Impaired Operation of a Conveyance – Exceed Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
WOOLDRIDGE remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing Monday, March 16, 2026.
None of the occupants of the home were injured in this incident, nor was the driver of the vehicle. The vehicle remains lodged in the home pending an evaluation from a structural engineer.
