ATV DRIVER CHARGED IMPAIRED IN VALENTINE DAY COLLISION

(NIPIGON, ON) On February 14, 2026, at approximately 6:00 pm, members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a fail to remain collision involving an all terrain vehicle in Lake Helen First Nation.
Investigation determined that an all terrain vehicle struck a parked motor vehicle and left the scene. Shortly after, OPP officers located the suspect vehicle and driver at an address in Lake Helen. Investigation revealed the driver to be impaired by alcohol.
The driver, Narcisse BAIN, 61 years of age, of Lake Helen, Ontario, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences;
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - over 80
- Operation while prohibited
Driver as also charged under the Provincial Offences Act;
- Fail to remain
- Fail to report accident
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Fail to wear proper helmet
- Drive off-road vehicle - no number plate
- Drive off-road vehicle - no licence
- The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date
No one was injured in this collision.
