ONE PERSON ARRESTED IN HAWKESBURY FOR FRAUD

(HAWKESBURY, ON) - The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a fraud investigation.
On Thursday March 12, 2026, an individual attended a local financial institution to cash a cheque. Staff determined that the individual used a fraudulent driver’s licence, resulting in the account be frozen by staff.
On Wednesday March 25, 2026, the same individual re-attended the financial institution attempting to withdraw the funds from the account. As a result, the financial institution contacted the OPP and subsequently attended the financial institution.
As a result of the investigation, Dorice KPANGON, a 27-years-old, of Montreal, Quebec, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Identity Theft - obtain or possess another person’s identity information (two counts)
- Personation with Intent (identity fraud) (two counts)
- Possession of an identity document (two counts)
- Possession of a forged document with intent (two counts)
The accused was held for a bail hearing on Thursday March 26, 2026, at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal.
