Deceased identified; no foul play suspected
(HAWKESBURY, ON) - Members of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified the individual who died in a fatal fire in the community of Plantagenet.
On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 2:45 pm, officers responded to a report of a residential fire on Water Street. Emergency services attended the scene, where an individual was located deceased inside the residence.
The deceased has been identified as a 64-year-old woman from Plantagenet.
Following the investigation by members of the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, police do not suspect foul play in relation to the fire or the death. The investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, with assistance from the Office of the Fire Marshal.
