(HAWKESBURY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made a quick arrest after someone attempted to steal a vehicle from a dealership in Hawkesbury

On Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 2:30 am officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment responded to reports of a suspicious person at the dealership on Tupper Street. An individual had just left the scene after a failed attempt to start a vehicle on the lot.

An officer spotted a vehicle leaving the area and was able to identify the driver before that person fled.

Officers located and arrested the male around 5:30 am at a residence in Champlain Township.

Jeremiah MYRE, age 42, has been charged with:

  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Operation of a vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal today.
