OPP INVESTIGATING MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 401 IN PICKERING
(PICKERING, ON) - One individual is deceased following a collision on Highway 401 in Pickering.
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 02.40 am, officers from the Toronto Detachment -Highway Safety Division (HSD) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a to a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle on the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 near Westney Road in Pickering.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 38-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At approximately 4:25 am, a secondary collision occurred involving a passenger vehicle and a police cruiser in the same area. Two officers were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening or life altering injuries.
All eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Whites Road are closed for investigation, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist.
