(TORONTO, ON) - The Toronto Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a collision that happened on Highway 427 and Highway 401 in Toronto.

On Sunday, February 1, 2026, at approximately 6.55 pm, officers from the Toronto detachment were notified of a collision where a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 427 flipped and landed on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Eglinton Avenue.

It is believed that the vehicle, travelling on the southbound lanes on Highway 427 suddenly struck the right side of the overpass to Highway 401. The vehicle ramped up and over the concrete barrier and upon landing, collided with a transport truck on the eastbound lanes on Highway 401 before finally landing on its roof near the Eglinton Avenue exit on the highway.

Two individuals were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation suggests speed and snow may have been contributing factors in the collision.

All eastbound Express and Collectors lanes on Highway 401 are closed at Highway 403 for investigation, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist.
