(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the death of an inmate at the Bath Institution, west of Kingston.
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, shortly before 10:00 am, an inmate was located in medical distress in his cell. He was transported to a local hospital and was later air-lifted to a trauma centre in Toronto. The individual, a 49-year-old male, was pronounced deceased on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
