OPP LOCATE YOUTHS RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHOOL BOMB THREAT

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) - Two young people have been located and identified following a reported bomb threat at an elementary school in West Nipissing.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a threat made from an anonymous source. At the time of the incident, the majority of students had already left for the day. As a precaution, the school was evacuated and temporarily closed while police conducted the initial investigation.

Front-line officers, along with the OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.), conducted a complete search of the school, which resulted in no explosive devices or threats being located.

The youths, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), were dealt with through community support programs. To protect the identities of the youths involved, the OPP will not be identifying the school.
