SOUTH PORCUPINE OPP CHARGES THREE PERSONS WITH ARMED ROBBERY

(MATHESON, ON) - On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the South Porcupine Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of members of the Iroquois Falls and South Porcupine Detachments, executed two search warrants and arrested three persons following investigation pertaining to a home invasion.
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, officers had responded to a home invasion at a residence east of Matheson. It was determined that it was an isolated incident and there was no threat to public safety. The OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) also attended to assist.
Brenden Giles and Jennifer Larocque, both 42 years of age and from Timmins, have been charged with the following criminal offences:
- Robbery with Violence
- Robbery - Violence Immediately Before/After
- Robbery - Assault with Intent
- Armed Robbery
- Mischief Under $5000
Lisa Ciupka, 34 years of age, from Matheson, has been charges with the following criminal and Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:
- Robbery with Violence
- Robbery - Violence Immediately Before/After
- Robbery - Assault with Intent
- Armed Robbery
- Mischief Under $5000
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
The accused persons are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
