Fort Erie Stabbing Investigation – One Male Arrested

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at approximately 5:45 AM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers were called to a residence on George Road in Fort Erie for a disturbance. While enroute, officers received information that a female had been stabbed several times and fled the residence.
Upon arrival, uniform officers assisted with evacuating the victims and neighbouring apartments. One female was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) with life-threatening injuries, and a second female was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and Canine Unit attended the scene and assisted 5 District uniform officers with containment. Officers began negotiations with the male, and at 10:21 AM, he exited the residence and was arrested without incident.
27-year-old Patrick SASSANO of Fort Erie is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Attempted Murder
- Intimidation by Violence
- Assault (2 Counts)
SASSANO remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, St Catharines.
