Male Arrested After Overnight Stabbing in St. Catharines

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 12:25 AM, uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) were called to the area of Church Street and William Street, in St. Catharines, for a report of someone being stabbed.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 23-year-old male suffering from a stab wound. That male was transported to an out-of-region hospital. His injuries are considered not life-threatening.

A perimeter was set-up in the downtown St. Catharines area, and with the assistance of NRPS K9 units, a male suspect was located and arrested.

57-year-old David PENNER of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.

PENNER remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
