OPP RESPONDS TO ARMED INDIVIDUAL IN MORRISBURG

Special Investigations Unit Invokes Mandate

(SOUTH DUNDAS TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following police response to reports of an armed individual in the Municipality of South Dundas.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 4:30 am, members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and other specialty units were dispatched to a report of an armed individual near Lakeshore Drive and Augusta Street in Morrisburg.

Upon arrival, officers located a male with firearms. During the interaction, police discharged a less-lethal device. The individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital.

During the investigation, police asked the public to shelter in place or to avoid the area for about two hours while they responded to the incident. Although the investigation remains ongoing, the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.
