London man in custody
LONDON, ON (February 20, 2026) – A London man has been charged after the London Police Service arrested a man in possession of a firearm in the downtown core over the weekend.
Shortly after 12 am, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, officers were stopped by a citizen who heard gunshots and saw a man handling a firearm in an alley near Richmond and Hyman streets.
Police located the suspect and arrested him after he was found in possession of a handgun.
Officers also seized a quantity of drugs from the man.
After being transported to the LPS Headquarters Detention Unit, the man assaulted an officer while being booked into a cell.
Investigators learned the recovered firearm had been reported stolen to police in 1985.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander Christopher Cavuoti, 30, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
· Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
· Carry concealed weapon
· Possess restricted or prohibited or restricted firearm knowingly not holding a license
· Discharge a restricted firearm or a prohibited firearm in reckless manner
· Assault a peace officer
· Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition · Two (2) counts of possession of a Schedule I substance
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in London court today in relation to the charges.
