LONDON, ON (April 2, 2026) – A 49-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into the theft and trafficking of high-value commercial equipment.
On February 23, 2026, the London Police Service was notified of two commercial shipments reported missing after being picked up from a business located in the 1500-block of Sise Road. The shipments, valued at approximately $500,000, were scheduled for delivery to destinations in Ontario and Quebec but were never received.
Members of the London Police Service Patrol Operations Investigative Section assumed carriage of the investigation.
With the assistance of the Peel Regional Police, a search warrant was executed on April 1, 2026, at a residence in Mississauga.
As a result of the search warrant, police seized Canadian currency, cellular phones, and commercial equipment confirmed to be from the stolen shipments.
Mario J. De Medeiros Tavares, 49, of Mississauga, has been charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused was arrested and transported to London and is scheduled to appear in London court on May 12, 2026, in relation to the charges.
