London man charged

UPDATE #2 - LONDON, ON (November 20, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service Road Safety Section have laid charges in relation to a serious motor vehicle collision turned fatal from August.

As a result of the investigation, Abdel Hamid Habliza, 58, of London has been charged with the following offences:

· Careless driving causing death · Fail to render assistance

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in London court on January 5, 2026, in relation to the charges.

UPDATE - LONDON, ON (September 16, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service Road Safety Section continue to investigate the serious motor vehicle collision from last month.

The driver of the motorcycle, Steven Douglas Smith, 49, of London has succumbed to his injuries while in hospital.

Investigators continue to ask anyone who was in the area of Brydges Street, east of Egerton Street, on Friday, August 15, 2025, between 1:40 – 2 pm who may have witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam, residential, or business surveillance footage, to please contact us.

The investigation remains ongoing.

LONDON, ON (August 15, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service (LPS) Road Safety Section are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred in the city’s east end this afternoon

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 1:50 pm, emergency crews responded to a serious collision on Brydges Street, east of Egerton Street, involving a motorcycle and a sedan.

The male motorcycle rider was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

All vehicles involved remained on scene.

The intersection was temporarily closed as investigators processed the area and collected evidence.

The investigation has now been taken over by the LPS Road Safety Section and remains ongoing.
