Four adults facing charges
UPDATE #4 – LONDON, ON (February 6, 2026) – The investigation that commenced on January 24, 2026, on Western University campus continues.
Although community partners have concluded their activities at the Chesham Place address, members of the London Police Service continue to maintain a presence at the University Heights residence as the investigation progresses.
As a result of a search warrant executed at the home in London, in addition to chemicals, additional firearms and a quantity of explosives were found late last week. Over the weekend, officers conducted the safe and controlled disposal of the explosives in the northeast end of the city, following strict procedures and safety protocols. The continued safety of all communities involved in this investigation remains our highest priority.
Based on items seized during the original and subsequent search warrants outside of the city, investigators believe the accused were manufacturing firearms and explosives.
We can also confirm that through the course of the investigation, we learned that the four individuals charged either were, or currently are, Western University students.
The London Police Service works closely with our provincial and national partners, including the RCMP, on a wide range of criminal investigations. The RCMP has been notified about this matter and is providing support.
We know many in the community have concerns. Our priority is keeping everyone informed while protecting the integrity of the investigation. The accused’s motives are still under investigation.
We thank our community partners for their cooperation in prioritizing public safety and the local community for their patience during this wide-reaching investigation.

UPDATE #3 – LONDON, ON (February 3, 2026) – As a result of the ongoing investigation on Chesham Avenue, and following the execution of related search warrants, additional charges have been laid.
Jerry Tong, 27, of Ottawa, along with Zekun Wang, 26, Fei (Frank) Han, 25, and Feiyang (Astrid) Ji, 21, all of London, have been jointly charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a loaded/unloaded regulated firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowingly manufacturing or transferring a firearm, device, or ammunition
All four accused remain in custody.
The London Police Service will remain in the area for an undetermined period while the investigation continues, however; partner agencies have concluded their on‑scene involvement, and the removal of specialized equipment is now complete.
All roads have been re-opened in the area.

UPDATE #2 – LONDON, ON (January 30, 2026) – As part of the ongoing investigation on Chesham Avenue, additional warrants have been executed in Ottawa and Gatineau, Quebec.
The assistance of members of the Ottawa Police Service, Gatineau Police Service, and the Sûreté du Québec has been paramount. This complex investigation has spanned multiple cities and provinces. We are grateful for the collaboration and support of our law enforcement partners.
The investigation remains active, and additional information will be provided as appropriate.

Although we cannot provide an exact timeline, we want to inform residents that they can expect to see a continued police presence on Chesham Avenue as the investigation progresses.
UPDATE #1 – LONDON, ON (January 29, 2026) – The investigation on Chesham Avenue continues. Additional charges have been laid.
Jerry Tong, 27, of Ottawa, and Zekun Wang, 26, of London, have each been charged with one count of unlawful possession of explosives.
All four of the accused remain in custody.
Although we do not have an exact timeline at this stage, as the investigation progresses, residents can expect to see a police presence on Chesham Avenue for an extended period of time.
ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (January 27, 2026) – Four individuals have been charged following a trespassing investigation at Western University that led to the seizure of a loaded firearm and the discovery of hazardous chemicals inside a home near the university campus.
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at approximately 1:40 am, the London Police Service responded to assist the Western University Special Constable Service in relation to a trespasser in custody. Special Constables arrested the male suspect after a foot pursuit on campus, and officers located a loaded handgun at the scene of the arrest.
Officers determined that a second male had been involved in the trespassing incident, and further investigation led to a residence near Chesham Avenue and Chesham Place. There, officers found hazardous chemicals capable of being used to create explosives, leading to the arrest of two additional individuals connected to the residence.
Technicians with the Explosives Disposal Unit assessed the scene, and the residence was secured. The home has been under police guard since the incident, pending further investigation by the Major Crime Section.
As a result of the investigation, Jerry Tong, 27, of Ottawa, is charged with:
- Carry concealed weapon
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possess loaded regulated firearm
- Resist arrest
- Break and enter with intent
- Occupy a motor vehicle with a firearm
Zekun Wang, 26, of London, is charged with:
- Break and enter with intent
- Occupy a motor vehicle with a firearm
Fei (Frank) Han, 25, of London, and Feiyang (Astrid) Ji, 21, of London, are each charged with:
- Unlawful possession of explosives
All four accused remain in custody. Additional information will be released as appropriate.
The London Police Service will be on the scene for an undetermined amount of time pending a search and safe removal of chemicals from the residence by specialized personnel and equipment.
