BANCROFT OPP INVESTIGATE THREAT REPORT AT LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL

(BANCROFT, ON) - The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a report involving a potential threat at North Hastings High School.
On April 15, 2026, shortly after 8:00 am, police were notified after information circulated on social media suggesting a student may pose a risk to the school. Officers responded immediately and worked with school administration to assess the situation.
As a precaution, officers attended the school, spoke with students, school officials, and guardians, and conducted a thorough investigation into the information provided.
The investigation determined the reported threat was not supported by evidence. Police did not identify any credible risk to students or staff, and there is no ongoing safety concern.
As a result of the investigation, a youth was charged in relation to public mischief. The youth was released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
