COLLINGWOOD OPP ARREST TWO IMPAIRED DRIVERS IN THREE DAYS

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) - Over a three-day period, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two motorists for impaired operation.
On April 12, 2026, at approximately 10:30 pm, officers responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person in progress in the vicinity of a residence requesting occupants for help. Further police investigation led officers to believe the individual was impaired and had been involved in a single vehicle collision near by.
As a result, Samuel COLE-ASHBURY, 26 years old, of Meaford, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at approximately 9:00 pm, while on general patrol in the area of Minnesota Street and Hume Street, officers conducted a traffic stop. Further police investigation led officers to believe the individual was impaired.
As a result, Darren MONTEITH, 38 years old, of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (X2)
- CDSA - possession of a Schedule I substance - methylenedioxyamphetamine
- CDSA - possession of a Schedule I substance - cocaine
- CDSA - possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- CAIA - drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- LLCA - driving motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
- LLCA - driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- HTA - driver fail to properly wear seatbelt
- HTA - drive motor vehicle with no currently validated permit
- HTA - obstruct plate
- HTA - driver fail to surrender license
- HTA - fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- CAIA - fail to surrender insurance card
The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood. Their driver’s licenses have been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
