On July 9, 2025, at approximately 7:00 pm officers with the Kingston Police C.O.R.E Unit were doing proactive patrol in the area of Bath Road and Palace Road when they observed an individual in possession of a high-end road bike.

The officers utilized the ‘Garage 529’ bike registration program and discovered the bike had been reported stolen the day prior.

The individual was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property. A further search of the individual revealed they were in possession of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, bear spray and several tools which could be used to commit break and enters. The tools included but were not limited to an angle grinder with extra grinding wheels, a pry bar and bolt cutters.

The 27-year-old individual was further arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of break and enter tools, possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace and two counts of breach probation. The individual was bound by two separate probation orders both of which were stemming from charges related to breaking into storage units.

They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Arrangements were made to return the bike to the rightful owner.
