Single shot firearm seized during arrest

On February 26, 2026, a member of the Kingston Police Patrol Division was conducting routine patrol in the area of Bath Road and Palace Road when they observed an individual operating an electric bicycle on the roadway.
The officer observed the individual travel through a solid red light with no intention of stopping. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined that individual had an outstanding warrant for their arrest.
Upon searching the individual officers located a small black rectangular object which was later determined to be a.22 caliber, single shot pistol.
The 55 year old individual of Kingston was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant and charged additionally with possession of weapons dangerous, carry concealed weapon, possess firearm without holding a licence and unlicences person possess prohibited/restricted weapon.
The individual was transported to Kingston Police Headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.
