The Kingston Police are warning the public about an ongoing telephone scam known as the “grandparent” or “emergency” scam.
On April 28, 2026, an elderly victim was defrauded of $5,500 after they were led to believe their grandson was in trouble. In this instance a suspect attended the victim’s residence to receive the funds.
An attempt was then made by the suspects to have the victim send $100,000 via wire transfer to a gold store to purchase gold bars.
