High speeds lead to stunt driving charge and license suspension

On February 4, 2026, at approximately 11:30 pm a member of the Kingston Police Patrol Division was conducting traffic enforcement in the 1500 block of John Counter Blvd. The officer observed a vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed.
The officer was utilizing a handheld radar and determined the vehicle was travelling at 128 km/h in a posted 50km/h zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and the 53 year old driver of the vehicle from Kingston, was charged under The Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt. The vehicle was towed and the driver received a 30 day license suspension as well as a summons to appear in court on a later date.
