(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) - Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after receiving information related to intimate partner violence (IPV).

On August 20, 2025, at approximately 7:00pm, Peterborough County OPP received a call stating that there was an individual laying in the grass at the side of the highway. Officers attended and located the individual who appeared to be visibly upset. Officers spoke with them and learned that they had been away with their spouse and the two had been arguing. While driving on the highway, the spouse struck the victim and then left them at the side of the road.

Officers located the accused and after speaking with them, an arrest was made.

A 57-year-old male was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault - two counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 7, 2025.
