BREAK AND ENTER CALL LEADS TO ARREST

(DOURO-DUMMER TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an address in Douro-Dummer for a reported Break and Enter which has resulted in one person being charged.
On Saturday April 11, 2026, at approximately 8:30pm, members of the Peterborough County OPP received a call from a property owner regarding a break and enter that was in process at an address on Douro First Line. The property owner arrived at the location and discovered an individual removing items from the residence that was vacant at the time.
The property owner blocked the driveway and contacted police. The accused was made aware of the call to police and made no effort to flee. Officers arrived on scene and the accused was arrested.
Matthew MITCHELL (age 50) of Apsley, ON., was arrested and charged with:
- Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence
- Theft under $5,000
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 12, 2026.
