(PETERBOROUGH, ON) - Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two separate drivers with Stunt Driving on Highway 115 within 12 hours of each other.

Shortly before 10:30am on Sunday February 8, 2026, an officer with the Peterborough County OPP was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 115. The officer’s attention was directed towards a vehicle that appeared to be travelling well above the posted speed limit. The officer activated a speed measuring device and obtained a speed reading of 171 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone on Highway 115.

The 21-year-old male G2 driver of Ajax, Ontario was charged with:

  • Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed
  • Obstruct plate
  • Drive with window coated - view obstructed

Just prior to 10:30pm, another officer was again conducting speed enforcement on Highway 115 when they observed a vehicle well above the posted speed limit. The officer obtained a speed reading of 159 km/hr in a posted 100km/hr zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop where the driver stated they thought they were only going 140km/hr

The 27-year-old male driver of Peterborough, Ontario was charged with:

  • Stunt driving in relation to excessive speed

Both accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days. They also face fines, 6 demerit points and potential licence suspensions.
