TWO CHARGED WITH ASSAULT IN IPV CALLS

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) - The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals for assault after investigating two separate and unrelated intimate partner violence (IPV) calls within 24hours.
On Wednesday March 18, 2026, at approximately 6:00am, the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding an assault that had taken place at a residence in Peterborough County. The caller advised that an argument began at a residence they were visiting, between the person living there and the resident’s ex-partner, that had arrived earlier. The argument escalated to where various items were thrown by the visiting ex. The resident stepped in front of them and was struck in the face.
Officers attended the scene and after gathering information, it was determined that the accused had committed an assault at which point they were arrested.
A 37-year-old female from Peterborough County was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
The accused was released with a future court date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
On Wednesday March 18, 2026, just after 11:30pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a disturbance at a short-term rental unit. The caller advised that they could hear yelling coming from within the unit.
Officers arrived on scene and upon hearing the commotion, entered the residence. After making contact with the individuals inside, the officer’s investigation corroborated a statement that one had struck the other. As a result, an arrest was made.
A 19-year-old male from Lindsay was arrested and charged with:
- Assault
The accused was released with a future court date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
