(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - A driver is facing charges after police were alerted to a possible suspended driver by the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, an officer from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting patrols on Highway 551 in M’Chigeeng First Nation when an ALPR alert identified a vehicle possibly being operated by a suspended driver. A traffic stop was initiated, and following further investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

In addition, police seized an amount of suspected crack cocaine and suspected morphine with a total estimated street vale of $235.

The driver, Murray ENSE, 36-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on April 28, 2026.
