ONE PERSON CHARGED AFTER YOUTH INJURED BY A WEAPON

(ESPANOLA, ON) - One person has been charged after a youth was injured by a weapon during a community event.

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 7:15 pm, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured youth at a community event north of the Town of Massey. The injured youth was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

The investigation was conducted with assistance from the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit and the Anishinabek Police Service (APS).

As a result of the investigation, Brandy OWL, 34-years-old from Massey, was charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 8, 2025.
