MANITOULIN OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL SNOWMOBILE COLLISION

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal motorized snow vehicle (MSV) collision in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI).
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 am, members of the Manitoulin OPP, United Chief and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service Commission (UCCM Police), Manitoulin-Sudbury District Paramedic Services, and the Township of NEMI Fire Department, responded to a report of a single MSV collision on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail C107D near Greenbush Road in the NEMI Township.
The driver of the MSV, a 36-year-old of M’Chigeeng First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS), with assistance from the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and Technical Collision Investigator (TCI).
OFSC Trail C107D remains fully closed between the trailhead at Greenbush Road and the trailhead at Burnetts Side Road in the NEMI Township.
