(GORE BAY, ON) - Police have arrested two people following an incident involving weapons in Gore Bay.

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a family-related dispute where an individual was reported to be unwanted at a property. With the assistance of the United Chief and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service Commission (UCCM Police), including a UCCM Police Canine Unit, officers attended an address on 7th Line Road in Gore Bay.

Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed individual. Through coordinated efforts between the two police agencies and the UCCM Canine Unit, two individuals were safely taken into custody. One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP would like to the UCCM Police for their assistance in this incident, including the valuable support of their Canine Unit.

The investigation remains ongoing, however there is no threat to public safety. Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area of 7th Line Road in Gore Bay as officers continue the investigation.
